CMN President, Rev. Fr. Francis Lucas represented the Catholic Media
Network in the signing of the memorandum of agreement with other
media, academic and telecoms partners for the biggest election coverage
dubbed “Eleksyon 2010” under the leadership of the country’s
premier television network, GMA-7. This renewed partnership marks
the fourth time CMN joins the country’s most comprehensive
coverage of Philippine elections.
Geared towards the country’s
first automated national election on May 10, 2010, the partnership
now includes more players from the academe and major NGO’s
as well as professional organizations. Joining the core media players:
GMA Network for television and new media, CMN and RGMA for radio,
Philippine Daily Inquirer for print and internet and PLDT and SMART
for back-end communications are the following: Pulse Asia, Inc.,
NAMFREL/PPCRV, Rock Ed
Philippines, Youth Vote Philippines,
Institute for Political and Electoral Reforms, the Philippine Bar
Association, COMELEC, SM Prime Holdings, Ateneo de Manila School
of Government, DLSU Institute for Governance and the UP School of
Economics.
In his speech, Fr. Francis Lucas
renewed the Catholic Media Network’s commitment to devote
all its media resources, being one of the largest radio networks
in the Philippines for clean, transparent and successful elections
next year. “It is very crucial for us to exert all efforts
to unite with different stakeholders, the shakers and movers of
industries in mass media in safeguarding the sanctity of the Filipino
people’s choices in electing our country’s leaders…
we are confident that in this election, we shall be able to offer
once again to the Filipino people the most comprehensive, the most
extensive and above all the most objective analysis and reportage
of everything vital to the success of the 2010 Elections for God
and Country.”

This partnership for Eleksyon 2010
is in line with CMN’s Register Vote Change (RVC) campaign
also in line with the upcoming elections. Henceforth, CMN radio
stations will accelerate its media advocacy and awareness campaign
to pursue its agenda for political reform and maturity.
