| HISTORY
: |
| |
From
Veritas Asia shortwave to ZNN Veritas now comes the youngest Veritas
member: DWRV. The radio Veritas FAMILY – and legacy –
expands.
It
is the first radio station of the Philippine Federation of Catholic
Broadcaster (PFCB) in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley) now Catholic Media
Network (CMN). As the Diocese of Bayombong (comprising the civil
provinces of Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino) celebrates its 28th year
existence in 1995, the emergence of DWRV is seen as a boom to
the local church’s efforts to renew its program of integral
evangelization, ushering in the building of BECs rooted in God’s
Word. Its birth gets inspiration from the decree on the instrument
of Social Communication promulgated by Pope Paul VI to preach
the gospel through social media.
Located
along Maharlika Highway in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, DWRV was
blessed and inaugurated on March 4, 1995 by Ricardo Cardinal Vidal
of Cebu and Bishop Ramon Villena of Bayombong.
DWRV…
its last two call letters mean: Radio Veritas for truth it holds
sacred. But it also brings to mind the initials of the 2 prominent
church personalities who blessed and inaugurated the radio station:
Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and Bishop Ramon Villena. Still others
add - Radio Vizcaya! Whatever… Truth is what DWRV and the
rest of the Veritas Family of radio stations will always uphold…
for it’s the “truth” (that) will set us free. |
